Volume II · Scene 02 of 30
The journey written down

The story
Sami looks at the record book. ‘If more crates arrive, how do you remember which ones these are?’ The woman in charge shows only a diagram prepared for the visit. The adults keep information about where the olives came from and their passage through the olive mill. Rumo follows a line on the paper. ‘It is like writing down the journey they have made.’ Neri gives it a name:
‘Traceability.’ Leo repeats it in little pieces. Ada joins the olive grove to the scales and leaves room for the next stages. This information also helps when people need to find the source of a problem. The children’s notebook tells an adventure. The adults’ records must let them follow a real food product.
Let’s talk about it
Why keep information about the olives’ journey?
One possible answer
To follow their origin and the stages of processing. It also helps people know where to look if a problem appears.
A little activity
Our notebook — Join the olive grove, transport and olive mill with a line. Use drawings. Do not copy personal details or a business’s records.
