Water and energy for everyone · Volume two
N07 Studying time and costs too
A power station needs a lot of work before it can run. It takes time, materials and money. Then it must be maintained and checked. At the end, what is left must be cared for. Adults compare the possibilities. Which solution helps this place? What problems do we still need to solve? A careful choice considers the whole journey.
What do we need to know as well as the benefits?
Think about the power station’s whole life
- Design and build
- Operate and check
- Look after what is left
Time, costs and responsibilities must be assessed at every stage.
For the accompanying adult
The PDF suggests low costs and less dependence on crises. We do not repeat figures without a documented comparison or guarantee prices or independence. Investment, finance, construction, maintenance, fuel, networks, waste and end of life affect costs. Supply chains and supplies remain relevant. As in R12, the comparison considers the same service, area and period, including renewables, storage and efficiency.
