N04 Technology helps people

Instruments collect information. A computer can help us read it. Some programs are called artificial intelligence. These programs can make mistakes too. People with the right skills check the results. When something does not add up, they look for the reason and put it right. Working carefully also means being able to say, ‘Let’s check again.’

An adaptation of the PDF’s themes of monitoring and AI. We do not repeat the promise ‘Goodbye human error’: automation and AI do not remove every error. Expertise, supervision, testing, fault management and protection of computer systems are needed.
