A home for the oil

A clean tank for the oil
From the separator, the oil goes into a clean, closed tank.
In our process, we do not filter it.
We leave it to rest so that the small suspended particles settle.

@ A.D.O.S. INTERNATIONALThe story
After the separator, the oil reaches a suitable, clean, closed tank.
Giulio points to the large container. “We protect the oil here. We take care with light, heat and contact with air.”
“Is the tank always the same for all the olives?” asks Leo. “Adults keep information about the different groups of product. Checks and storage must preserve that link.”
Rumo listens to the woman in charge. “The oil is not left without care: people keep checking it.”
At the end of the route, the group observes the tanks from the visitors’ walkway. These containers are suitable for storing food and are managed by adults. “The oil must not be left exposed to light, air and heat,” the woman explains. “We check this part of the work too.” “Containers, cleaning and checks need people and materials,” explains Curiosone. “Storing the oil properly is also part of the cost of its journey.” Ada draws a house around a drop, then adds the real tank beside it: the house is a picture to help them remember.
Rumo looks for the link with the product information. Sami finds it in the diagram. Today’s visit ends here. They will return with more explanations to learn about checks and bottles. Meanwhile, the oil stays in the care of the people who work there.
Let’s talk about it
What must oil be protected from during storage?
One possible answer
From light, too much contact with air, and heat. Suitable containers and careful management are needed.
A little activity
Our notebook — Draw the closed tank. Beside it, you can add symbols for light, air and heat, which must be kept under control.
