Volume II · Scene 21 of 30
On the way home

The story
Before they leave, Curiosone shows a box suitable for the bottles.
“The outer packaging can protect them during the journey and from light.
Boxes, packaging and transport cost money too.” Neri recalls the work needed to arrange the packages, store them in the warehouse and take them to their destination. For the return to the garden, Tila places the bottle so it stays stable and protected. “Transport can expose it to light and heat too,” Neri reminds them. Rumo chooses a suitable place, following the instructions they have received. Leo looks at the road through the window and recognises the turning for the olive grove. They do not need to pass near the machines again:
now they are following the product that is ready to be used. Ada keeps the closed notebook on her lap while Sami thinks back to the ventilated crates on the outward journey. Olives and oil needed different kinds of care. When they arrive, Tila puts the bottle in a sheltered place. The sun lights up the table; the oil waits in its protected place.
Let’s talk about it
Where is it best not to leave the bottle during the journey?
One possible answer
It is best to avoid direct sunlight and very hot places. An adult transports it so it is stable, protected and tightly closed.
A little activity
Our notebook — In two pictures, point to the protected bottle and the one left in the sun. Explain which place you would choose with an adult.
