The story

Near the kitchen, Ada asks one last question. ‘When used oil is no longer needed, where does it go?’ Tila shows a suitable container that only adults handle. She explains that unwanted oil must not be poured into the sink, toilet or onto the ground. It can cause problems for drains and the environment. Adults collect it and follow the local service's instructions. Leo looks at the tap, then at the river drawn in the notebook.

Rumo keeps the container closed and away from the children. They are not experimenting with hot oil. They are learning that even the last part of the journey needs a carefully chosen destination.

Let’s talk about it

Where must we not pour unwanted cooking oil?

One possible answer

It must not go down drains or onto the ground. An adult takes care of it, following local collection instructions.

A little activity

Our notebook — Ask an adult how used cooking oil is collected where you live. A question and a drawing are enough for this activity.
