A drop of water’s journey

Rumo: let’s look at the jug and follow the drop of water.

Illustration: How does water travel around the Earth? · Text: Sea. Water evaporates and becomes vapour. Condensation. Tiny drops form. Rain and snow. Water flows over the surface. Infiltration. Water goes into the ground. Simplified diagram: water follows many routes, including underground.

Tiny drops appear on the outside of the cold jug. ‘Is it leaking?’ asks Leo.

Neri dries the surface. After a while, it becomes damp again. ‘The jug is not broken. Let’s think about the vapour in the air too.’

‘When vapour turns back into tiny drops of liquid, we say it condenses. This change is called condensation,’ Neri explains. ‘That is what we are watching on the outside of the cold jug.’

Ada draws a drop, then a cloud and a river. Water moves between seas, air, land and ice. This is the water cycle.
